Letter Of Credit

LCs are used in international transactions to ensure that payment will be received where the buyer and seller may not know each other and are operating in different countries.

At Sight

Payable immediately – within three to five days – after the seller meets the requirements of the letter of credit.

Usance

Also known as Deferred Payment or Time or Term is a letter of credit payable at a predetermined time / future date after the conforming documents are presented.

Bank Guarantee

A bank guarantee is a lending institution's promise to cover a loss if a borrower (their customer) defaults on a debt to a third party. For payment protection in trade transactions, consider our Standby Letter of Credit services.

Proof Of Funds

A Proof of Funds (POF) is a document or bank statement proving that a person has the financial ability to perform a transaction.

Bank based in both St. Lucia; London; Switzerland; Germany are authorised to issue a Proof of Funds letter, based on availability and liquidity of the funds to be used in a transaction.

It should be noted that every POF document has an expiry date, at which point the document becomes void to the seller.

Pre-Advice Services

Bank offers Pre-Advice Services to facilitate the smooth execution of international trade transactions. These services provide preliminary confirmation to the beneficiary regarding the details of a letter of credit before the shipping documents are presented. Typically, a pre-advice will be tagged with a note like "THE SWIFT SHALL BE ISSUED UPON COMPLETION OF THE REQUISITE DUE DILIGENCE". The issuing bank is obligated, unless otherwise specified, by the pre-advice to issue or modify the credit in accordance with it.

Ready, Willing and Able Letters

A bank or other financial institution will issue a Ready, Willing, and Able (RWA) Letter on behalf of its clients. It proves the clients' willingness and ability to engage in a commercial financial transaction, both legally and financially.

Bank Comfort Letters

A comfort letter is a piece of writing that offers some level of assurance that a commitment will eventually be fulfilled. A comfort letter is traditionally supplied by external auditors to organizations or people of interest regarding statutory audits, statements, and reports involved in a prospectus.

Blocked Fund Services

Trading blocked funds is a speciality of some institutions and brokers. They exchange these funds for profits, most often for commodities and crude oil trades. Some blocked funds are due to suspicion or issues that no fraudulent transactions have occurred; however, during this time, the money is placed in different banking accounts so that it might earn income, which is then paid back to the account's owner after the money is unfrozen or unblocked.
